Gary first stood for council in knowle in 2002 and Chris in 2003. Up until December 2021 we carried the label of Liberal Democrats and our electoral record can be seen over the 20 year period.
We have won on every occasion with the Labour Party as our nearest challengers every time. We know that most of the vote was personal as other Lib Dems standing for different positions on the same days got massively lower votes. For example, Chris in 2015 was the only successful Lib Dem candidate in Bristol and the national Lib Dem vote in Knowle was 8% as against Chris's 53%.
On 5th May 2022 the referendum to remove the post of mayor was passed by the Bristol electorate by just under 60% with just short of 30% turnout. There are no official local numbers but Knowle had a higher turnout with an estimated 75% for the deletion of the post.
We will be standing in future under the banner of Knowle community party.
